This sub-dominant canopy tree when mature has a rough browm/orange bark and is fairly common in warm and cool subtropical forests. The bark is often host to a myriad of other plants, such as creeping & epiphytic ferns, vines, orchids and mosses. There are numerous older trunks near the Best of All track that are shrouded in other plant growth. The small creamy-white pom-pom flowers are generally only seen in the sunlit canopy but are often fallen to the forest floor after being fed on by local fauna.
